Recycle, Reclaim & Reuse
ETC member companies are committed to conserving natural resources and protecting the environment by reuse, recovery and recycling of hazardous secondary materials. ETC members offer a wide range of options for recycling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials including solvents, chemicals and manufacturing by-products, used automotive oil, antifreeze, airport de-icer fluids, fluorescent lighting, discarded electronics, transformers and other electrical equipment.
The ETC has been a strong supporter of the U.S. EPA’s rulemaking efforts to encourage more recycling and improve environmental protections. The major rulemaking, called the “Definition of Solid Waste Rule,” encourages generators to recycle onsite their own hazardous materials subject to conditions that protect human health and the environment. Often ETC member companies provide contract services to generators for such on-site recycling. In addition, the DSW Rule requires commercial reclamation facilities to have financial assurances, such as a trust fund or corporate guarantee, for proper cleanup of their facilities in the event of closure.
